Walt Norman 2013 Motorcycle Accident -
Walt was injured July 14, 2013 when an un-insured motorist pulled our directly in front of him ignoring his stop sign. His life was forever changed that day, because the driver was on disability, worked under the table and therefore, the Court gave Walt nothing except the $20k un-insured motorist coverage he had on his bike. He wants his story which sad to be a learning lesson for any rider who is cutting corners on their motorcycle insurance...DON'T. Almost 8 years later, he still struggles every single day and tries to find blessings in this life changing tragedy.
Walt was in construction and at the time was trying to remodel his mothers mobile home in Illinois, he now must live there with his caregiver (mother) and now 8 years later the repairs that he was starting are still not done, and the mobile home has some structural damage, nothing but a plywood flooring and the kitchen counter and sink are rotting and need replaced. Walt is trying to find some organizations in his local area to help with labor, but he is going to need to pay for the materials.
He is in desperate need of a recumbent electric trike sold by Walmart that costs 2700 dollars so that he can get out and try to get some exercise and sunlight on his face. This bike would help him get some exercise as well and while it is costly, medicaid will not pay for it and his monthly disability of a little over 900 per month, doesn't give him enough revenue to put it on any type of payment plan.
He realizes that most who read this will not know him and wonder why they should help him, and i could give you pages and pages of sadness that because of this accident has changed Walt's life, but it is just too lengthy and too sad. He contacted BikerDown because most states and cities aren't blessed like Colorado is to have a non-profit that truly helps injured riders...so he took a chance that maybe we could help him.
As President and Founder of BikerDown it is my MISSION to always try to help an injured rider to the BEST of my ABILITY. I am asking anyone that might be touched by this story to consider even the smallest donation to help this rider who just can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. We all believe in a biker code that we don't leave our bikers behind, but LIFE is passing Walt by and he just is desperate to fix what is broken and try to have HOPE again.
We will devote 100% to ensure that this $$ is used where we fundraised for....his emcumbent bike and some home improvements to the mobile home. I have seen his accident reports, his disability and i have vetted this injured rider.
Please give what you can to a rider in need. Thank you and God Bless.
